📣 Community Update: Republic Services Responds to Garbage Pickup Delays

Updated: Aug 7

Community Update: Republic Services Responds to Garbage Pickup Delays. Power88.FM has been in direct contact with Republic Services following a week of missed garbage pickups reported across Fairfield and other Bay Area communities.

According to a statement provided to us by Republic Services Media Relations, the delays are due to an ongoing labor dispute involving union employees at Forward Landfill, which has expanded to affect other Republic locations throughout the region.

“We have mobilized additional Republic Services employees to assist with collections in the Bay Area. Some arrived yesterday, others will arrive today. We expect to resume some residential collection in the coming days.”

Here’s what residents need to know:

  • Delays are expected to continue temporarily as the company works toward resolving the issue.

  • A negotiation session is scheduled for Monday between Republic Services and the union in hopes of reaching an agreement.

  • Extra crews have been brought in, and partial service may resume within the next few days.

  • Republic is asking residents to leave bins out at the curb until collection is completed.

  • Customers will receive notifications via text, phone, or email as updates become available.

We’ll continue to provide updates as this develops. Thank you to Republic Services for responding and to our listeners for your patience as the community navigates this temporary disruption.
